How Anne Ditmeyer Redefines Entrepreneurship with Creative Design

Entrepreneur: Anne Ditmeyer

Tilt: Inviting creativity, play, and new ways of seeing

Primary Channels: Website, Connect the Dots newsletter

Other Channels: Blog, Instagram (25.1K), Substack, LinkedIn

Revenue Streams: Book, workshops, community, coaching

Our Favorite Actionable Advice:

  • Do what you enjoy: Anne started her Prêt à Voyager (Ready To Travel) blog over 18 years ago. Since then, she’s combined what she’s learned, what inspires her, and her graphic design eye to operate a creative coaching content business.
  • Diversify revenue streams: Anne meets her audience where they are, offering lower-priced products, such as a book and entry-level workshop, to higher-end services, such as one-on-one coaching and on-site corporate training.
  • Draw a map (preferably on a banana): Think differently and get out of your everyday mindset as you grow as an entrepreneur and content business owner.
  • Learn from your community: Your community can teach you, and you can teach them. Paying attention to both can help you fill in knowledge gaps.

things to know

Money
  • Yellow to green: YouTube says AI isn’t good enough at detecting ad-friendly videos, so it will automatically send videos with the yellow icon (limited or no ads) for an additional review. Creators previously had to make the request. [YouTube Help]
Tilt Take: YouTube knows where its bread is buttered and doesn’t want creators to get unhappy because an AI glitch means their content isn’t eligible for revenue.
  • Apps up: More content creators are hiring for their teams. YTJobs saw a 33% jump in job opportunities in the fourth quarter of 2024. [Business Insider, AOL]
Tilt Take: Good sign that the creator business not only remains strong but it’s getting stronger.
Audiences
  • Tune in: Pocket Casts stopped requiring a paid subscription to its Web Player. Registration is required to rate shows and store favorites. [Podnews]
Tilt Take: If you didn’t pay attention to this podcast distributor because of the paid version, it’s time to revisit it.
Tech and Tools
  • Double dates: Google’s search algorithm doesn’t like two publishing dates listed on a content page. [Search Engine Land]
Tilt Take: If you date your content and update it at times, ensure only the updated date appears on the page.
And Finally
  • Best move: Best Buy is at it again. Though it failed in a digital marketplace launch in 2011, it plans to open up a new one this spring by providing creators the space on the retailer’s website to sell their recommended products. [Tubefilter]
Tilt Take: Given all the options available, not sure it will lead to the revenue that Best Buy or the creators hope.
  • Tune up: A new platform promotes itself as revolutionizing how musicians and creators connect with their fans and monetize content. Channl allows creators to sell from a single point and have direct contact with their audiences. [Channl]
Tilt Take: We like the idea. Just remember that you must also control your marketing (and do lots of it) to attract people to your owned channels.
